GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –  A southwestern Michigan man accused of trying to ram into an FBI agent's car while under surveillance has nixed a possible guilty plea.

A hearing set for Wednesday in federal court in Grand Rapids was canceled. Reed Berry is charged with assault.

The FBI says he almost crashed into an agent's car two days before the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Authorities say they were watching the St. Joseph resident because they believed he was using the Internet to contact terrorist groups.

Berry hasn't been charged with terror-related crimes. In a court filing this week, his attorney asked for more time to possibly revive a plea deal or go to trial.

Judge Robert Holmes Bell has set a new hearing for Dec. 12.
