Detroit firefighters rescue 7 from burning home

Home on Detroit's east side catches fire

DETROIT – The daring rescue of a family trapped inside a burning home Friday morning on Detroit's east side was all caught on tape.

Seven people were pulled to safety by firefighters after the fire started at about 7:30 a.m. at a home in the 3900 block of Devonshire Street.

Video shared with Local 4 from a neighbor shows firefighters pulling a woman from a window and carefully carrying a young girl out wrapped in a blanket.

"They were screaming. I didn't really notice there was a fire until the lady came out and screamed that it was a fire and she said her kids were inside," said neighbor Destiny Jones. "She said her and her kids had to jump out a window."

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but DTE said it appears the house did have an illegal energy hook up.
