Michigan dad invents 'BrushyBall' to help kids with teeth brushing

Talking ball shows children where to brush

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – A Michigan man thinks he's got the invention that could be the answer for parents everywhere when it comes to helping their children brush their teeth correctly.

Birmingham's Rob Malen said the idea for the BrushyBall came out of a parenting frustration with his young daughter.

"One, just getting her to brush in the morning and every evening can be difficult. Two, was duration. Getting her to brush anywhere near two minutes was a challenge," Malen said.

The product is designed to guide little brushers and teach them proper teeth-cleaning techniques – all with the help of a talking cartoon head.

"You'll see that each segment of teeth light up and it creates an easy to follow pattern. The voice is giving additional instructions to guide a child to have fun while brushing completely," Malen said.

Area dentist Dr. Mitchell Milan says he likes the BrushyBall.

"It's one of these simple ideas that just simply makes sense," he said. "You would think that cavities are decreasing among young children, but there's been statistics that have recently shown that it's actually increasing."

BrushyBalls aren't on store shelves yet, but you can buy them online at www.brushyball.com.
