Bodies of two women discovered, believed to be missing Hamtramck women

A tip to police led them to search area near Rouge River on Detroit's west side

The bodies of 21-year-old Ashley Conaway and her friend 18-year-old Abreeya Brown are believed to be found along the Rouge River near McNichols and Telegraph on Detroit's west side.

The two were kidnapped at gunpoint in Hamtramck on February 28th, put into a trunk and driven away.

"I just can't believe somebody would do this to these girls, a boyfriend girlfriend spat," said Jacquelyn Porter, Abreeya's aunt.

A burned out car believed to be used in the kidnapping was found not far from the location of the bodies. Police sources tell Local 4 that a partially burned wallet with a driver's license was found in the car along with a burned shovel.

"We have unearthed from a shallow grave the bodies of two females who fit the description of the two young ladies we've been looking for," said Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee.

Two young men, Brandon Cain and Brian Lee are being held on attempted murder charges in connection with a February 8th shooting at both women. Conaway had dated Cain and broke if off. After the shooting, Cain allegedly offered both women $5,000 not to go to police, but when they refused, they were both kidnapped.

Some family members of both women had searched the same area on Detroit's west side after the car was found.

Many came back Sunday night and said the findings bring some closure, but not relief.

They also want Cain and Lee charged with murder.

"There's one good enough, life without parole. The two girls are gone.  They shouldn't be out here either," said Porter.

An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
