LIVONIA, Mich. – Thieves are targeting one local cemetery looking to cash in on the bronze metal vases.
Tom Pouch and his wife Fran come to Eden Cemetery in Livonia every Sunday to visit their son who died of a heart attack a few years ago. But when they arrived this Sunday, they noticed other vases at grave sites around their sons were missing.
"We're just dumbfounded that someone would do something like this," said Fran Pouch.
According to Livonia Police, thieves have targeted the cemetery and so far have gotten away with 40 vases in hopes of selling them to scrap yards. The vases are worth about $160, but police say their value on the black market is far less.
An investigation is underway to find the people who stole them.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
