Obama does short mini-tour of Metro Detroit for high-ticket fundraisers; 1 big, 1 small

President in Michigan for fundraisers at The Henry Ford, Bingham Farms home

BINGHAM FARMS, Mich. – It was a million-dollar Michigan evening for President Barack Obama after he attended two high ticket fundraisers in very different settings.

The first was held The Henry Ford in Dearborn. A crowd of nearly 600 paid between $250 and $5,000 to see Obama.

He told the crowd "change is the decision we made to rescue the American auto industry from collapse when some politicians said 'let Detroit go bankrupt.'"

"Change takes time," Obama said. "It takes more than a year. It takes more than a single term. It takes more than a single president."

The President was introduced to the crowd by an autoworker and told the crowd he has much more to do and needs their support.

Obama visits private fundraising event at Bingham Farms home

After the Dearborn address, Obama's motorcade made its way to the Bingham Farms home of Denise Ilitch. She is the daughter of Mike and Marian Ilitch. She hosted a high-ticket fundraiser for an elite group of 50 people. For $10,000 guests had cocktails with President Obama. For $40,000 it was dinner and some face time with the President.

While Obama was inside, his motorcade was outside and neighbors, including many teens, came to get an up-close look. The teens said not only was it cool but that it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
