Lightning strikes Taylor church, sparks fire

TAYLOR, Mich. – Lightning struck a church Monday at the corner of Haskell and Carolin streets in Taylor.

Taylor police say the Fire Department was called to the Downriver New Covenant Church where firefighters had to go through the roof to put out a fire.

There were no injuries reported. It's believed no one was inside the church at the time the lightning struck.
