DETROIT – Several women visiting Detroit's casinos have been targeted by purse thieves.
Ila Parrish was playing a slot machine at the MGM Grand Detroit casino when her purse was stolen.
"All of a sudden, I had my purse and he grabbed it. I jumped up and I said help, help, he stole my purse. My life was in that purse. I am a wreck. Let's just put it at that. I am a wreck," Parrish said.
Local 4 Defenders have learned at least two other women visiting Detroit casinos were recently targeted by thieves. Those women had their purses taken as they walked out of the Greektown Casino.
Despite her experience, Ila Parrish said she will return to the MGM Grand Detroit Casino to gamble. But she has advice for any woman planning a visit.
"Just take your driver's license, put it in your pocket and your money. Don't take your purse down there," Parrish said.
Ila Parrish suffered a bruise on her arm when her purse was taken.
Local 4 Defenders report one suspect has been taken into custody in one of those purse snatching cases.
