Police battle crowds in East Lansing riots

MSU campus riots after Spartans' Big Ten Championship

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State's big victory over Ohio State in the Big Ten football Championship gave students a reason to celebrate, but some of the on-campus celebrations got out of hand Saturday night.

Following the game, some rowdy crowds formed in East Lansing and the partying resulted in riots and even a large fire. The Detroit News says that police in riot gear used tear gas to disperse some of those crowds, but the ELPD says no chemicals were used.

There have been no injuries reported, but police made multiple arrests and responded to multiple fires.
