DETROIT – One of the newest offerings turning heads at the Detroit Auto Show during the Industry Preview is the 2015 Hyundai Genesis.

If you have to leave for an appointment in five minutes, the car can send a text to your phone asking if it should get itself warmed up.

That's possible, because the high-end sedan will sync with an Android-based app that taps into a driver's Web searches, contacts and calendars.

The app is called the "Genesis Intelligent Assistant," and it can also remind the owner to remotely start the vehicle to warm or cool the interior before driving, based on weather conditions.

If the car is nearing a required service, the Genesis Intelligent Assistant notifies the owner, who can then schedule an appointment right from the app.

The 2015 Genesis also has upgraded Blue Link technology, which can remotely operate the climate control system and the window defrosters, as well as remotely stop the car's engine. It will also send an emergency-contact email and/or text message whenever the car's Automatic Collision Notification system or SOS Emergency Assistance is activated.

The 2015 Genesis also debuts Hyundai's next-generation infotainment technology which features a customizable home screen, that you can swipe like a tablet or smartphone. Owners will be able to store music, photos and video right on the system's hard drive.

The company says advanced voice-recognition technology will make it easier to execute hands-free operation.

Pandora, Sirius XM and SD navigation are just some of the other things included.
