GM sorry for sending recall notices to victims' families

DETROIT – General Motors issued an apology to families of accident victims who were sent notices about the extensive recall of vehicles due to defective ignition switches.

2.6 million GM cars have been recalled to replace a defective switch that has been linked to 13 fatalities. Families who lost loved ones in fatal crashes argue that it was insensitive for the manufacturer to send them notices to bring their cars in for the repair, reports Reuters.

"We are deeply sorry to those families who received a recall notice," GM spokesman Greg Martin told Reuters.
