Jayru Campbell arraigned on probation violation

Cass Tech football player arrested for assault hours after being released from jail


DETROIT – Former Cass Tech football star Jayru Campbell was arraigned Tuesday on a probation violation.

Last Friday, the 17-year-old returned to Cass Tech High School after being released from jail and allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.

He was charged with robbery not armed, assault and misdemeanor domestic violence assault and battery. He's pleaded not-guilty and will remain in jail until his preliminary hearing on Sept. 25. His next probation violation hearing is the following day.

He had just served a 57-day sentence for body slamming a school security guard on the floor.
