Bloomberg's PAC spending $2.3 million on Rick Snyder ad

LANSING, Mich. – Billionaire Michael Bloomberg's political action committee is spending $2.3 million to air TV ads helping Republican Gov. Rick Snyder's re-election bid.

Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser said Tuesday that the ex-New York mayor admires how Snyder "executed his vision for Michigan's comeback." He cites job growth, Snyder's pro-immigration stance and education policies.

The political independent has also spent millions helping Democrats. He gave $2.5 million to help Democrats defend their majority in the Senate. He's endorsing Democrat Gary Peters in Michigan's Senate race over Republican Terri Lynn Land.

Bloomberg's Independence USA PAC began airing the pro-Snyder ad this week. It says Snyder "made the hard decisions and delivered results."

Schauer spokeswoman Cathy Bacile Cunningham says Bloomberg's ad is a reminder that Snyder's policies work for the wealthy but not anyone else.
