Girl reported being lifted up by man outside Elmwood Elementary School; Police say man is mentally disabled
ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – St. Clair Shores police say they've identified a man who lifted a 10-year-old girl up by her arms outside her elementary school.
Police said the girl reported being approached by the man Wednesday afternoon outside Elmwood Elementary on California Street. She broke free from him and ran to a teacher.
Through tips and witness statements, police said they were able to identify the man as a 27-year-old mentally disabled Eastpointe resident. The man was with a mother at the school who was picking up two children.
He was questioned by police and released to his mother.
Police said they would be turned over their investigation to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office -- which will determine if any charges are issued.
