Intruder breaks into Farmington Hills home, jumps out window to escape

Police recover BB gun, knife from scene in Hunters Ridge apartment complex

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Farmington Hills police have arrested a man who, they believe, broke into a home early Monday morning before jumping out a window and stealing an SUV.

Police said the incident happened about 4 a.m. in the Hunters Ridge apartment complex near 14 Mile and Orchard Lake roads.

The victim woke to find a man in his home who was armed with a BB gun and knife.

Police said the victim and the intruder got into a brief struggle but that the intruder then escaped by jumping out a second-floor window.

The victim's black Cadillac Escalade -- dealer plate 93D611 -- was taken.

Police said they recovered the BB gun and knife.

The only description released by police of the intruder is: white male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with prescription-type glasses. He was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt and a bandana across his face.

UPDATE: Farmington Hills police made an arrest later on Monday.
