2015 Detroit marathon registration opens January 1
DETROIT – Registration for the Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon opens at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 1.
The marathon, which includes a variety of races, is in its 37th year. It's a tradition which has grown each year since that first October in 1978.
Thousands of runners from around the country -- and world -- participate each year to enjoy the scenic course across the Ambassador Bridge into Canada and back through the tunnel.
Michael Andersen (United States) won the 2014 edition with a race time of 2:24:54.
The 2015 race is scheduled for Oct. 17-18.
