"Although elections are not widespread this February, every vote counts," said Johnson. "Voting gives you a chance to have your voice heard on Election Day and participate in one of our greatest freedoms. I encourage everyone who qualifies to register and then vote."
Voters can register by mail or in person at their county, city or township clerk's office, or by visiting any Secretary of State office.
To register, applicants must be at least 18 years old by Election Day, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of Michigan and of the city or township in which they wish to register.
Voters who qualify may choose to cast an absentee ballot. To receive an absentee ballot by mail, applicants must submit their application by 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. Absentee ballots can be obtained in person anytime before 4 p.m. on Monday Feb 23.
As a reminder, voters will be asked for identification at the polls or if obtaining an absentee ballot. Voters without a valid photo ID can still vote after signing a brief affidavit stating that they're not in possession of a photo ID.
