WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – Charlie Bothuell's father, Charles Bothuell IV, has been released from jail on a GPS tether. Bothuell IV posted $5,000 bond Saturday, according to the Wayne County Jail.
Bothuell IV was being held on charges of torture and second degree child abuse in connection to his son's discovery hidden behind boxes in their basement. Bothuell IV reported his son missing to police, who found the boy in the basement on June 25.
Charlie's stepmother, Monique Dillard-Bothuell has not posted bond, according to the jail. Dillard-Bothuell is also facing torture and second degree child abuse charges and being held in the Wayne County Jail.
According to jail records, there is a hold on Dillard-Bothuell because of a probation violation that has no bond. Officials say this would keep her from being released even if $5,000 bond was posted.
