House fire in Pontiac claims life of mother

Leonna LeDuff leaves behind 3 children

PONTIAC, Mich. – It still hasn't sunk in for the parents of Leonna LeDuff that she is gone.

"It's a shock. It's a sudden thing, and you're trying to be strong for the children. You're not crying around them," LeDuff's mother, Evelyn LeDuff, said.

Leonna LeDuff, 30, died Monday after her Pontiac home caught fire. She leaves behind three children.

"She was well loved. She was well respected, tried to be the best mother she could," Leonna LeDuff's father, Leon, said.

The children weren't in the home when the fire started.

"That's kind of hard. You go away. You spend the night and have a nice trip and then you come back and your mom is gone and everything is gone. Your pets. They had a house full of pets," Evelyn LeDuff said.

Leonna LeDuff's younger sister, Deonna, is going to help care for the children with their father.

"She was like a superwoman. They were in six activities after school. She was driving them out 45 minutes a day to take them to school. I don't know how I am going to do it because I don't know how she did it," Deonna LeDuff said.

Those who would like to donate to the family can do so at any PNC Bank under the "D3 Mom Fund."

A online account has also been set up on GoFundMe.com.
