Local Amtrak train crash victim's funeral held Monday morning

The Huntington Woods native killed in Tuesday's Amtrak crash was the founder of Detroit Nation, a group connecting ex-metro Detroiters with good works in their hometown.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Rachel Jacobs, the Michigan native killed in last week's Amtrak train crash, was laid to rest Monday morning.

Her funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Ira Kaufman Chapel in Southfield. She will be interred at the Machpelah Cemetery in Ferndale.

Jacobs, among many things, was known as the co-founder of the nonprofit group Detroit Nation.

A Crowd Rise page, to benefit the charity, has already raised more than $12,000 in four days.

Detroit Nation's mission involves cultivating economic development and innovation in Southeastern Michigan.
