SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A 10-year-old boy who was pulled from a house fire in Southfield early Tuesday morning has died.
Around 6 a.m., firefighters found Nathaniel Mosby and his 23-year-old sister huddled together on the floor in a front bedroom of their home on Marshall Street.
Both were unresponsive when firefighters carried them out, and paramedics performed CPR before rushing them to Beaumont Hospital. Nathaniel was later pronounced dead.
Nathaniel's mother works an overnight shift and returned home to find the tragedy.
"Very heartbreaking as a mom. My heart goes out to her. The whole situation is sad and unfortunate," said neighbor Crystal Parker.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Firefighters on the scene said the home didn't have working smoke alarms.
