Ex-Bishop Foley teacher gets 6-15 years in prison for sex with student

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A former Spanish language teacher at a Madison Heights parochial high school has been sentenced to at least six years in prison for having a sexual relationship with a student.

Kathryn Ronk, 30, was charged in both Macomb and Oakland counties for her involvement with a 15-year-old male student at Bishop Foley High School.

Prosecutors said Ronk met the teen in December 2013 and subsequently began sexually assaulting him.

The assaults took place in Ronk's classroom, in a parked vehicle on a Sterling Heights street and in the victim's Macomb Township home.

Prosecutors said Ronk also enticed the victim to exchange sexually explicit images and provided the victim with alcohol.

In February, Ronk pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced to six to 15 years in prison in the Oakland County case.

She also pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct in the Macomb County case, and was sentenced Thursday to six to 15 years in prison.

She must also register as a sex offender.

"I would like to again apologize to the victim and his family. I take full responsibility for what I've done. I do not want the victim to have any blame that he may feel. I did this. I was the adult," Ronk told the court. "I hope that now that this is over, everyone is able to move on."

Her sentences will run concurrently.
