DETROIT – The Michigan Humane Society is hoping to find a special home for a 2-year-old calico cat that was rescued in Detroit and has a prosthetic leg.
MHS said the cat, named Brunhilda, was found New Year's Day with an open compound fracture on her right-rear leg, as well as a fracture of the left-rear leg that caused a permanent deformity.

Veterinarians amputated her right rear leg and consulted with a vet at Orthopets, a company that makes prosthetics for animals.
After months of treatment and rehabilitation with her prosthetic leg, MHS said Brunhilda is ready to be adopted.
Anyone interested in adopting Brunhilda must visit the MHS Detroit Center for Animal Care -- 7401 Chrysler Drive -- to fill out an application.
