DETROIT – A 36-year-old Detroit man is accused of being drunk Sunday evening when he hit and killed a woman who was crossing 7 Mile Road.
Police said George McCree hit Lawanna Durrett, 48, of Detroit as she crossed the road near Runyon Street, and kept driving. He was later identified through an investigation by police and arrested.

McCree is charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol causing death, driving with a suspended license causing death and failing to stop at the scene of an accident that resulted in a death.
