Waterford police recover officer's wallet with badge

Off-duty officer left wallet on counter of Lakeways Market

WATERFORD, Mich. – Waterford police recovered an off-duty officer's wallet that was left on a store counter.

Police said the officer left his wallet Friday on the counter of the Lakeways Market on Pontiac Lake Road after making a purchase.

The wallet contained the officer's driver's license, credit cards, police ID and badge.

Surveillance video from the market shows a man taking the officer's wallet and putting it in his pocket.

Police released the video Wednesday with the hope that someone will recognize the man.

Waterford police identified and interviewed the suspect. The wallet and all of its contents were recovered.

Waterford police will present the case to the Oakland County Prosecutors Office for review.
