24-year-old man charged in Allen Park rape

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – A 24-year-old man was arraigned Friday after a college student led police to the suspect’s apartment where she was sexually assaulted for hours and eventually let go.

Kevis Sardin, of Allen Park, was charged with kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual conduct and armed robbery.

“She won’t go out in public right now,” the victim’s mother said. “She was amazing, she’s a much stronger person than I would have ever imagined.”

Sardin and the 23-year-old victim went to high school together. Police said somehow he got a hold of the victim’s cell phone number and began a texting campaign posing as her ex-boyfriend begging her to meet.

She agreed.

Police said Sardin put a gun in the victim’s face, threatened to kill her, and forced her to drive her own car to the Willow Cove apartments in Allen Park where he lives with his mother. That’s where he blindfolded her and sexually assaulted her for hours in the basement storage room.

Eventually he took her back to her car, took off the blindfold, and told to her count to 30 and drive away.

She went right to the hospital. She used Google maps to find out exactly where he took her and then called police.

Allen Park police took her back to the apartments and Sardin was standing outside on his phone. He was immediately arrested.

“She’s stronger than I would have been, I haven’t slept in three days and it didn’t happen to me. I don’t know how she’s coping,” the victim’s father said.

Sardin is being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

Police believe a second man may have been involved in the assault and are investigating.
