On Wednesday, Miller released a video announcement of her candidacy for Macomb County Public Works Commissioner.

From the video:

"Hi, I'm Candice Miller and last year I said I wasn't going to be running for Congress again because I'm a Michigan girl and it was time for me to come home. Specifically, to Macomb County where my family and I have lived our entire lives. But, I never said I was going to retire. Hey, I am way too young to retire. But, I do think with all the different experiences I've been so fortunate to have, that I can put them to good use in a way that can be impactful for our community.

"So, today, I'm excited to announce my candidacy for Macomb County Public Works Commissioner. Throughout my entire life, one of my principal advocacies has always been protecting our water; making sure we have clean, pure, fresh water. Working to improve our environment so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy what we have had. And, a big part of that, means addressing inadequate, underground infrastructure for both our sewer and our water...and that really is what this office is principally responsible for. We need to make certain that the water that we drink is pure. We need to stop all of these sewer overflows that for decades have been fouling our waterways and closing our beaches. And, my pledge to you is that I intend to roll up my sleeves and get to work.

"Make Macomb your home is more than just a slogan for me. I ask for your support.”

In Congress, Miller served on the House Homeland Security and Transportation committees. She also chaired the House Committee on Administration.
