Mystery substance damaging cars in Fraser

FRASER, Mich. – Workers at an industrial park in Fraser are upset over a mystery substance causing damage to vehicles.

Bob Navarro loves his Ford F-150, but doesn’t like the way it looks recently.

“I’m absolutely mad,” Navarro said. “I have brown particles of rust all over my truck and not just a little bit.

Orange and brown specks have become engrained in the vehicle’s paint. When Navarro first noticed the buildup, he thought it was just his truck. When he mentioned it to his co-workers who use the same parking lot, it started to make sense.

“Within a week and a half, I noticed this person, that person, then one day went out at noon and everybody noticed it on their vehicles,” Navarro said.

Over 100 workers from businesses located on 15 Mile Road are complaining about the specks.

The workers believe the company next door to them is responsible.

FormTech produces metal car parts. The plant manager says they checked and even called a state inspector to examine their dust collector.

“Our investigation with the dust collector shows there’s nothing wrong with the dust collector or anything coming from our facility,” FormTech plant manager Brain Cicilian said.

The workers aren’t convinced and hoping for answers.
