Fraser man killed in crash with suspected drunk driver

Pavlos Dion hit on Gratiot Avenue in Eastpointe

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A 64-year-old Fraser man was killed late Wednesday night in a crash on Gratiot Avenue caused by an accused drunk driver, Eastpointe police said. 

Pavlos Dion was stopped at a red light in the northbound lanes of Gratiot Avenue at Chesterfield Avenue when he was hit from behind. 

Dion was taken to St. John Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

The driver who hit Dion, 47-year-old Jenell Bailey of Royal Oak, failed several field sobriety tests, police said. 

She was arraigned Thursday on charges of homicide, operating while intoxicated causing death and operating with a suspended license causing death. 

Police said witnesses saw Bailey speeding and running several red lights on Gratiot Avenue before the crash. 

She was also treated at St. John Hospital for minor injuries.
