Innocent driver killed when suspects fleeing police strike multiple vehicles in Brownstown Township

BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police say an innocent driver is dead after a police chase Tuesday evening in Brownstown Township.

The Brownstown Township reconstruction unit was called out to the area of Dix Highway and Allen Road around 5:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving a fatality.

Police say preliminary investigations revealed two passengers in a car crashed into three other cars while attempting to flee Woodhaven police. 

The chase began after a complaint of retail fraud and parole violation against the suspects. 

Authorities said patrol officers fell back once the suspects picked up speed. Police say the suspects then hit three other vehicles on Allen road.

Brownstown Township police say one of the drivers in a vehicle hit by the suspects was pronounced dead on scene, adding the victim was a 27-year-old woman.

The suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
