ClickOnDetroit the go-to guide for everything Olympics

DETROIT – The gold medals are piling up and viewers are watching Local 4’s Olympics coverage with the same fervor as in 2012.

Sunday night, for nearly 300,000 households, the Olympic Games were must-see TV and that translated into a 15.4 household rating and a 26 household share. Or, to put it another way, about 500,000 viewers watched the stunning performances of top athletes from around the world.

Local 4’s coverage of the Rio Olympics dominated the ratings all day Sunday with more people watching WDIV than the other local TV stations (WJBK, WXYZ, WWJ) combined. Local 4 News at 6 reached a quarter of a million viewers, and the late news following the primetime Olympic games reached nearly 200,000 people at midnight.
