Canada was sentenced to six to 15 years in prison.
According to authorities, the girl was found unresponsive last May in Canada’s home and was pronounced dead at a hospital. A medical examiner determined she suffered severe head injuries.
Canada stood before Judge Shannon Walker.
“Even though I didn’t intend it, I take responsibility for those actions and I deeply regret them,” Canada said. “Those last years we had together were the best years of my life and it was amazing how much joy she brought to me and others.”
The judge said she was relieved Canada was taking responsibility for his actions but had some harsh words.
“You’ll have to live with that for the rest of your live,” Walker said. “At some point you’ll have to explain to your son as well because I’m sure he’s going to ask, ‘Where is my sister and why did she have to die at the tender age of four years old?’”
