21-year-old lifeguard struck by lightning in Presque Isle
PRESQUE ISLE, Mich. – The Presque Isle County Sheriff’s office said a 21-year-old woman has been hit by lightning while she worked as a lifeguard on a private beach at Grand Lake, in Presque Isle.
East Grand Lake Fire Chief Ron Fournier says conditions were stormy at the time of the lightning strike near the north end of the lake.
The woman was near a beach house when she was struck.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed and she was taken to Grand Rapids Hospital via helicopter and is listed in critical condition.
