Amber Alert out of Port Huron canceled after child found safe; father arrested
Douglas Ball, 39, considered a person of interest in homicide in Port Huron
PORT HURON, Mich. – An Amber Alert out of Port Huron has been canceled after the child was found safe.
Police said Douglas Ball, 39, who is considered a person of interest in a homicide in Port Huron was arrested at a relative's home in Orion Township. His 5-year-old son Douglas Ball was with him at the home.
The victim in the homicide is the 5-year-old boy's biological mother, police said. Her body was found in the basement of a house Saturday afternoon.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Department assisted Port Huron Police with making the arrest around 8:30 Sunday morning. The relative of the suspect that lives in the Orion Township home will not be charged.
Ball is currently being held at Oakland County Jail. The 5-year-old child will be turned over to family.
