INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate assaults that occurred Saturday at the DTE Energy Music Theater in Independence Township.

At about 9:40 p.m., police were called to the Pavilion area for an intoxicated disorderly person. When they arrived, a 22-year-old man became combative and struck a deputy in the face with his fist.

While police tried to control him, his 44-year-old father approached a deputy from behind and placed him in a choke hold.

One deputy was treated for minor injuries. Police said a stun gun was used to control the son and both subjects were taken into custody.

The 44-year-old and 22-year-old, both from Monroe, Michigan, are lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending charges.

In a second incident, less than 10 minutes later, police responded to a report of an 18-year-old employee assaulted after she asked for a patron’s ticket and seating assignment.

A 44-year-old resident of Linden, Michigan, allegedly pushed the employee and struck her with an elbow to her throat area. He then grabbed her by the breast and dragged her around, police said.

The 18-year-old employee complained of minor injuries and was treated by medical staff assigned to the theater.

Deputies arrested the 44-year-old man and lodged him at the jail pending charges.

The incidents happened during a Hank Williams Jr. and Chris Stapleton concert.
