Woman shot, killed on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – Police are investigating after a 24-year-old woman was shot and killed Sunday on Detroit's west side.

The shooting happened at about 1:40 p.m. at a home on the 15000 block of Ward Avenue, near Fenkell Avenue and Meyers Road.

Police arrested a 26-year-old suspect a few hours later on the 6700 block of Vinewood Street.

Authorities said the woman was visiting her cousin when the suspect came to the home looking for a man to settle a dispute.

He was not there, so the suspect followed the woman to the rear of the home, where he fired several shots.
