WARREN, Mich. – A search is underway in Warren after a woman was shot and killed.
Julii Johnson, 34, died soon after her boyfriend found her outside his condo near 13 Mile and Mound roads.
Johnson's boyfriend is no longer in police custody. Warren police are looking for a clear motive: Was this random or was Johnson targeted?
As the investigation continues, neighbors like Patricia Johnson, no relation, admit they are worried.
"Just knowing the fact that it happened literally a few houses down and no one heard it. No one heard anything," Patricia Johnson said. "Last night, I really didn't sleep much. I kept getting up, looking out the windows and things. It's a little uneasy, you know, unsettling."
Julii Johnson's boyfriend found her bleeding on the front lawn. The boyfriend told detectives he saw someone wearing a hoodie running away. It appears the killer didn't take anything from Johnson.
"It's sad. It's tragic," Patricia Johnson said.
While Julii Johnson leaves behind a 17-year-old daughter and a loving family, neighbors said not knowing if she was targeted or if this was random doesn't make them feel any safer.
Until the killer is caught, residents of the quiet neighborhood are being extra vigilant.
