Wife, stepson of dead KKK leader charged with murder

Frank Ancona fatally shot in head

The wife and stepson of a Ku Klux Klan leader in Missouri were charged with murdering the 51-year-old man.

Police said Frank Ancona was found dead over the weekend by a family who was fishing.

An autopsy showed Ancona died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Malissa Ancona, 44, and her 24-year-old son were both charged in the crime.

The 51-year-old identified himself as the Imperial Wizard of the Traditional American Knights. He appeared on the group's website wearing the white hood and garb of the KKK while standing in front of a burning cross.

Ancona's car was found on Thursday in the Mark Twain National Forest. His body was later located a few miles from where the vehicle was found.

Police investigating the case had reportedly arrested Ancona's stepson on an unrelated warrant while his mother was questioned regarding the murder.

According to local reports, Malissa Ancona told police her husband said he planned to divorce her after he came back to town from a job out of state.
