LANSING – A local couple expecting their first child won a large Club Keno jackpot this week.
Here's the info from the Michigan Lottery:
A pregnant Macomb County woman was almost shocked into labor after she and her husband won $234,580 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Club Keno The Jack game.
The lucky couple, who chose to remain anonymous, won the big prize when their easy pick The Jack numbers – 12-24-28-31-34-49-54-72 – matched eight of the 20 Club Keno numbers drawn in draw 1440182 on March 20. They bought the winning ticket at TJ’s Party Store, located at 1208 Fort Street in Lincoln Park.
“I gave my husband $4 to buy a Club Keno ticket when we stopped at TJ’s Party store,” said the expectant mother. “He was inside for a while, and I was wondering what he was doing. When he came out and told me we’d hit The Jack for $234,000, I thought I was going to go into labor.”
“I saw The Jack was pretty high, so I decided to add the game to our Club Keno ticket,” said the soon-to-be father. “I waited in the store and watched the drawing. When I saw someone hit The Jack, I couldn’t help but think: ‘It might be us!’
“I handed the ticket to the clerk so he could check it. When he told me I had to go to Lansing, I knew we were The Jack winners!”
The lucky couple visited Lottery headquarters on Tuesday to claim the big prize. With their winnings, they plan to pay off some debt, finish their baby’s nursery, and take a trip after the baby is born.
“It’s surreal and hard to believe we got so lucky. The timing is really just perfect,” the husband said.
The Jack is a Club Keno add-on game that players may add to their Club Keno wager for as little as $1 per draw. With The Jack, players get eight easy pick numbers to match to the Club Keno numbers drawn. Players may win prizes ranging from $1 to the jackpot. The jackpot starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won. To win the jackpot, players must match all eight numbers.
