Residents safe after lightning strike causes house fire in Lyon Township

LYON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A home caught fire Thursday morning after it was struck by lightning in Lyon Township.

Fire crews rushed to the home near 9 Mile Road and Pontiac Trail where the resident told firefighters that everyone made it out of the house.

Authorities were told that a closet on the second floor had caught fire.

Crews found a fire smoldering in the wall and the fire was extinguished.

No one was injured in the fire.
