8-year-old girl who rocked out with Metallica at Detroit show talks about experience

DETROIT – At Metallica’s July 12 show in Detroit, drummer Lars Ulrich invited an 8-year-old girl to perform a drum solo with the band.

The video of Kendalynn playing with the band is making its rounds online. She didn’t have experience on the drums, but she still got on stage and rocked out.

“He [Ulrich] says, ‘We’re going to play Seek and Destroy,’ and then I got to keep the drumstick,” Kendalynn said.

She was at the concert with her dad. It was his 68th time seeing Metallica. It was Kendalynn’s first time seeing the band, but she’s been watching videos of the group with her dad her whole life.
