Grand Hotel voted No. 1 historic hotel in United States

Grand Hotel adds to long list of awards

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. – The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island has been voted the No. 1 historic hotel in the United States by USA Today readers.

A list of 20 nominees was chosen by editors and a panel of industry experts, based on their knowledge and experience of the hotel scene across the nation, and the final selection was determined by popular vote.

The announcement comes weeks after Travel + Leisure Magazine announced that Grand Hotel has taken the No. 2 spot among the top five Best Resort Hotels in the Midwest for 2017.

TripAdvisor also honored Grand Hotel with its Certificate of Excellence for the seventh year in a row, and awarded Certificates of Excellence to the hotel's own Grand Luncheon Buffet and five restaurants owned by Grand Hotel, namely: Sadie’s Ice Cream Parlor, Woods Restaurant, Jockey Club at the Grand Stand, The Gatehouse and Fort Mackinac Tea Room. 

The most important criteria for success was popular support from the general public, with Grand Hotel attracting votes and positive reviews from around the globe.
