Bicyclists raise money for charity at Highland Park firefighter bike ride

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – Bicyclists gathered Saturday in Highland Park for the Metro Detroit Fire Fighters Bike Ride for Charity.

The participants were raising money for the Epilepsy Foundation and victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Highland Park Fire Chief Kevin Coney came up with the idea for the charity a few weeks ago, after his 6-year-old daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy.

"They often say things don't hit home until they happen to you, so this hit home," Coney said.

The group rode from the Fire Department to Eastern Market, playing music along the way as they raised money and showed the strength of the community.
