VIDEO: SUV plows into Staten Island laundromat; driver says he accidentally hit the gas

Surveillance video from a Staten Island laundromat shows the shocking moment when an SUV plowed through the front of the building, injuring six.

Footage shows the white SUV slowly backing out of a spot in the parking lot. It suddenly speeds up and smashes through the front of the building, sending glass in all directions. The SUV continues through the laundromat, plowing into customers, tables and other objects. One of the customers who appeared to be unharmed immediately rushes to help the victims of the crash.

According to WNBC, six people were injured in the crash, three with serious injuries. Among the injured was a pregnant woman.

Police said the crash was an accident and the 74-year-old driver of the SUV has not been charged.

The driver said he accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake when backing out of the parking spot.

The store owner said he now has more than $20,000 in damages.
