Nikon again names Michigan top state for fall foliage photographs

DETROIT – This is nothing new -- especially for lifelong Michiganders -- but it's worth mentioning Nikon once again has named Michigan the top spot for photos of fall foliage. 

Ah yes, it's a beautiful place to be during the fall with the vibrant colors, the crisp air, the apple harvest and ... the bitter-sweet feeling of knowing what's ahead: a cold, long winter. 

Nikon said this year they have been encouraging photographers of all levels to get outside and share the best locations for witnessing the changing seasons in their state.

"Using designated hashtags (e.g. #NikonFallNY, #NikonFallMI, NikonFallCO, etc.) the campaign reached users nationwide and lead individuals to showcase their state pride. After a month of submissions that nearly totaled 10,000 images, Nikon tallied up the photos from each state and identified the top five states," a statement from the company reads.

If you've ever spent a fall day in Maine, then you're probably very surprised to see the state didn't make the top five list. Oh well, there's always next year. 

For now, Michigan reigns as the two-time winner of Nikon's fall foliage competition, and we're extremely happy to share this news.
