VIDEO: Skydiving Santa crash lands on Florida beach, suffers broken leg

Santa and his helpers will likely stick to the sleigh after a major skydiving mishap that was caught on camera in Gulfport, Florida on Saturday.

According to WTVJ, a skydiver dressed as Santa Claus was looking to make a grand entrance while delivering an Elf on the Shelf to a 9-year-old girl. The stunt was part of the Tampa Bay Beach Bums Operation Santa Charity Volleyball Tournament.

Video footage shows the skydiver quickly descending on a Florida beach with a parachute deployed. When he's close to the ground, the skydiver suddenly veers into a tree, hitting branches and tumbling to the ground.

Santa's helper, George Krokus, suffered a broken leg that required surgery. A GoFundMe page was set up to raise money for medical expenses.

9-year-old Madison Spiers watched the crash unfold and was surprised to learn that her Elf on the Shelf, Kristoff, was also on board for the jump. She later found a note from Kristoff that said, "As we were about to land this big tree jumped right out in front of us!"

The elf sported a bandaged leg while staying with the recovering Krokus.
