Family files $10M lawsuit after Michigan teen with mental health issues punched by police officer Video shows Officer Tyler Collins punching 13-year-old
ALBION, Mich. – The family of a teen boy who was punched and pepper-sprayed by a Michigan police officer filed a lawsuit this week.

A Local 4 Defenders exclusive video showed Da'veon Cieslack being punched and pepper-sprayed by an Albion police officer while his hands were cuffed behind his back.
Cieslack's family filed a $10 million lawsuit against the city of Albion, the Albion police chief and Tyler Collins, the police officer shown on video punching the boy.
The union attorney representing Collins said the officer followed procedures and his training. Collins, who was fired, will try to get his job reinstated at a hearing next month.
Collins has refused to answer questions from Michigan State Police, which did an independent investigation of the incident. Albion police have refused to turn over three videos from the night to MSP, including two dashcam videos and body cam footage from the camera Collins was wearing.
