Carhartt partners with Detroit Tigers pitcher, MLB players to raise money for veterans

Michael Fulmer participated in campaign

DEARBORN, Mich. – Carhartt officials announced Thursday that through a partnership with Major League Baseball pitchers, including Detroit Tiger Michael Fulmer, the company donated $125,400 to help veterans.

For every strikeout starting pitchers Fulmer, Chris Sale, Corey Kluber, Felix Hernandez and Jacob deGrom had during the 2017 season, the workwear company donated $100 to Helmets to Hardhats, an organization that helps veterans transition from the military to civilian trade careers.

During the "Strikeouts for Vets" campaign, 1,004 strikeouts  were recorded among the Carhartt starting rotation pitchers, more strikeouts recorded than any other starting rotation in baseball. Because of this, an additional $25,000 was donated.

"We're very proud of the Carhartt starting rotation's incredible performance this season, including two pitchers who set career highs in strikeouts," said Tony Ambroza, chief brand officer at Carhartt. "Their effort on the field will go a long way in helping our military veterans find quality work in the trades after their careers in the armed forces."
