Dan Gilbert apologizes for 'tone deaf' Detroit ad

DETROIT - Detroit businessman Dan Gilbert is apologizing after a new ad on one of his Bedrock owned buildings came under scrutiny.

Over the weekend, Gilbert's property management company (Bedrock) debuted a new ad campaign on the windows of the Vinton building at Woodward and Congress.

The ad facing backlash had the text: "See Detroit Like We Do." The issue: mostly white people were in the photo beneath the text.

Detroit's population is predominately black and Latino.

The ad, shared above, quickly drew critics to Bedrock's Facebook page.
