VIDEO: Eurofighter jet crashes into ocean during Italian air show; pilot killed
An airshow in Italy took a horrifying turn Sunday when a Eurofighter jet crashed into the sea, killing the pilot. The tragic moment was caught on video by several spectators.
The footage shows the jet complete a loop before approaching sea level. The jet fails to get enough lift and it crashes in a massive plume of smoke and spray several hundred feet offshore.
Watch the video above. The Italian Air Force said the body of the pilot, Captain Gabriele Orlandi, was recovered soon after the crash.
An investigation was opened into the cause of the crash.
The rest of the Terracina Air Show was cancelled.
